Priapism in Pooler

Confidential, Gentle Care for Persistent or Painful Erections—No Surgery Needed
Experiencing a prolonged or painful erection can be overwhelming—and if it doesn’t resolve naturally, it may be a condition called priapism. At Savannah Pelvic Health & Wellness in Pooler, we provide discreet, non-invasive pelvic therapy designed to help men heal and regain confidence without relying on medication or surgery.
What Is Priapism—and Why Does It Matter?
Priapism is a prolonged erection lasting longer than four hours, unrelated to sexual stimulation. It may be painful and, if not treated properly, can result in long-term complications. There are two main types:
- Ischemic (low-flow): Blood is trapped in the penis—typically painful and urgent
- Non-ischemic (high-flow): Caused by excessive blood flow—usually less painful and often trauma-related
Both types can lead to tissue damage, nerve dysfunction, and sexual performance issues if left untreated.
Warning Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore
Symptoms of priapism may include:
- Erection lasting more than 4 hours
- Pain or throbbing in the penis or perineum
- Swelling, numbness, or tingling sensations
- Difficulty returning to a flaccid state after climax
- Ongoing pelvic discomfort or erectile dysfunction
- Anxiety or stress related to sexual activity
These symptoms can often continue long after the initial episode, making early intervention and therapy essential.
What Causes Priapism?
Common contributing factors include:
- Trauma to the penis, pelvis, or perineal area
- Side effects from medications (ED drugs, antidepressants, blood thinners)
- Blood disorders like sickle cell disease
- Pelvic floor muscle tightness
- Neurological conditions
- Vascular congestion or poor circulation
At Savannah Pelvic Health & Wellness, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to uncover the underlying cause—so we can treat the problem, not just the symptoms.
How Pelvic Therapy Can Restore Function—Naturally
Instead of reactive treatments like injections or surgery, we take a proactive, hands-on approach to help your body heal and prevent future episodes. Our therapeutic methods aim to:
- Improve blood and lymphatic circulation in the pelvic region
- Reduce muscle tension that restricts vascular function
- Mobilize scar tissue or adhesions
- Normalize pelvic nerve signaling
- Enhance posture and breathing to relieve internal pressure
- Support healing after a priapism episode
Our goal is to address lingering discomfort, restore function, and help you move forward with confidence.
Your Session: What to Expect
Every session is confidential, personalized, and respectful. We start by understanding your history and concerns before creating a tailored care plan. Treatment may include:
- Pelvic floor trigger point therapy
- Gentle fascial release
- Scar tissue mobilization (if needed)
- Breathwork and postural retraining
- Neuromuscular coordination exercises
- Home-based strategies for ongoing support
All therapy is conducted in a comfortable clinical environment by specialists trained in men’s pelvic health.

If I could give Jasmine 10 stars, I truly would. Jasmine is one of the people I owe a huge thank you to for helping me along my journey of having a vba3c. The pelvic therapy was a huge factor in me successfully giving birth to my baby girl. She made sure she listened to my concerns and she made sure that I was well prepared for birthing my baby. She is absolutely wonderful and has an amazing spirit!

Dr. Polk is an amazing therapist who incorporates an array of manual therapy techniques to help you heal your pelvic floor issues & get you back to its prior functions. If you’re pregnant and are in pain you NEED to see her ASAP. I went to her twice during my recent pregnancy. My last visit with her I was in so much pain and wasn’t due for another week. I could tell my belly dropped and I wasn’t in excruciating pain after seeing her. I went into labor the next day & birthed my baby two days after I saw her. All in all, a perfectly positive experience with Dr. Polk. 10/10 recommend!
