Running Postpartum in Pooler

Rebuilding Your Body After Pregnancy

At Savannah Pelvic Health and Wellness LLC in Pooler, we offer a specialized Return to Running Postpartum Program designed to help new moms safely rebuild strength, improve stability, and get back to running with confidence. Pregnancy and childbirth place significant stress on your body, and it’s essential to rehabilitate properly before resuming high-impact activities. Our expert women’s health physical therapists provide a structured, step-by-step program to guide your return to running safely and effectively.

How to Start Your Postpartum Running Journey

Rehabilitation
Before resuming running, your body needs to heal from pregnancy and childbirth. Our team conducts a comprehensive assessment to identify any pelvic floor dysfunction, muscle imbalances, or postural concerns that could increase your risk of injury. We address core strength, pelvic alignment, and any lingering discomfort to ensure your body is ready for high-impact exercise.

Increasing Strength
Running requires strong, coordinated muscles throughout your core, hips, and legs. Our program includes progressive strength-building exercises, starting with breathing and foundational movements, then advancing to dynamic training. We also assess for muscle imbalances to help prevent injury and improve stability before you return to running.

What Our Return to Running Program in Pooler Includes

Triplanar Strength Training
Running is primarily forward movement, but your body must also stabilize side-to-side and rotational forces with every step. We incorporate strength exercises across all planes of motion to improve stability, efficiency, and injury prevention.

Speed Progression
Even at a slow pace, running is a high-speed activity that requires your body to adapt quickly to impact. We introduce speed-focused exercises to help your body respond to fast movements, which is especially helpful for moms managing urgency or incontinence with activity.

Impact Preparation with Jumping
Our program includes progressive jumping and plyometric drills to rebuild endurance and impact tolerance. These exercises target hip and ankle stability, helping you prepare for the demands of running. If you experience symptoms like leaking or pelvic pressure during these drills, we adjust the program to build strength safely.

Running Drills for Form & Efficiency
Our physical therapists guide you through running drills that target proper movement patterns, including knee drive, pelvic control, and arm swing. Drills such as high knees, butt kicks, and skipping enhance form, stability, and overall running efficiency.

Intervals to Safely Build Endurance
We use run/walk intervals to gradually reintroduce running while minimizing fatigue and injury risk. Your progression is personalized based on your ability, comfort, and goals. Intervals help your body adapt to running in a controlled, manageable way.rol.

Success Stories & Testimonials

If I could give Jasmine 10 stars, I truly would. Jasmine is one of the people I owe a huge thank you to for helping me along my journey of having a vba3c. The pelvic therapy was a huge factor in me successfully giving birth to my baby girl. She made sure she listened to my concerns and she made sure that I was well prepared for birthing my baby. She is absolutely wonderful and has an amazing spirit!

Ciara Morris

Very impressed with Dr. Jasmine Polk. She is incredibly knowledgeable and very kind and encouraging. I am hopeful to make the progress I need to after having the birth of my son.

Jenna Daugherty

Dr. Polk is an amazing therapist who incorporates an array of manual therapy techniques to help you heal your pelvic floor issues & get you back to its prior functions. If you’re pregnant and are in pain you NEED to see her ASAP. I went to her twice during my recent pregnancy. My last visit with her I was in so much pain and wasn’t due for another week. I could tell my belly dropped and I wasn’t in excruciating pain after seeing her. I went into labor the next day & birthed my baby two days after I saw her. All in all, a perfectly positive experience with Dr. Polk. 10/10 recommend!
